Non Food Friday – Go Green

It’s NON FOOD FRIDAY! Happy to finally be able to share some of the awesome cross stitch designs in the latest Issue of X Stitch Mag (out now).

This awesome piece is by StitchDotCom and I’m sharing this one first as it was a fun challenge to shoot. As always Mr X (The Editor) and I sat down at the beginning of issue 4 production to discuss all the designs going into this issue and how we imagined the best way to shoot them. For this piece Mr X wanted to see it through a rainy window… never once to shy away from a photographic challenge and armed with a glycerine spray I excepted and this is the out come! I look forward to sharing more designs from Issue 4 – Green over the coming weeks.

Apple Sauce Cake Day!

Today is AppleSauce Cake day…who knew?! And apparently the best way to celebrate is to make one of these cakes and eat it…. can’t argue with that!

Cream together 110g butter with 200g caster sugar, then add 250g apple sauce, 250g flour, 1tsp bicarbonate of soda, 1tsp ground cinnamon and quarter tsp ground cloves. Once mixed add 75g raisins and 60g chopped walnuts. Bake for 40mins at 180c. YUM!

52 Weekends No.35 – Festival Flower Crown

This weekend we enjoyed sunshine, live music, Halloumi burgers, hippy stalls, axe throwing and Morris dancing at the Strawberry Festival in Cambridge. Inspired by all the flower crowns seen at the festival I decided to make my own with some garden wire and some ribbons and artificial flowers I had in my craft box… it’s so pretty i don’t want to take it off!

52 Weekends No. 34 – Needle Felting

I’ve had such a busy week working really long hours that it made me look forward to this weekend more than usual. Saturday morning on the way to the supermarket to do the weekend shop I detoured into Hobbycraft to buy some supplies and have a browse. Ever since I’ve been getting more involved in the craft world for work I’ve been drawn towards the needle felt creations I’ve seen (possibly because most of the time they are cute little animals), so when I found this sweet little dinosaur felt making kit for £4 I knew I had found this weekends project.

I was completely new to this and it was a great craft to learn, the instructions were simple and easy to follow and all you needed to add was a tons of patience. I sat on the sofa whilst the kids watched a movie stabbing away and bringing my little creation to life (stabbed my fingers a couple of times too). It’s quite addictive, therapeutic and has left me feeling very inspired to make my own designs, maybe some cute little aliens next! For £4 I would highly recommend giving this mindful little craft a try!

Juicy Cola

I cannot shout loudly enough about this new cola I recently discovered made by The Juice Shed Company, which is made from all natural ingredients! As well as original flavour it also comes in cherry and blueberry and wait for it… WHICH COUNT AS 1 OF YOUR 5 A DAY! Amazing, I know! So amazing I made this cue little video if them!
