These days I mainly blog about my job as a photographer sharing the various projects I’m working Monday to Friday, then at the weekend I shut down work me and it time to relax. I LOVE the weekend! Our house is designed for the weekend… downstairs we have an open kitchen, dining, living space for us all to hang out and most of the time we have a full house. The large dining table doubles as an art/craft table and if I’m not in the kitchen cooking (which I love… but it doesn’t come naturally) I’m usually sat here working on something. I like it because with everyone else hanging out in the same room doing their own thing I don’t feel antisocial as I’m not shut away in another room.
The weekends for me are about being cosy at home, drinking lots of coffee, wearing hoodies, eating lots of food, snuggling on the sofa watching movies, pottering about in the garden, doing puzzles, going for walks, visiting places, decorating the house and feeding the ducks… proper cosy stuff. Bliss!
As a creative person I’m constantly inspired by the things I see and I have a natural urge to make and create, at the weekends this is my time… I can make anything. 52 Weekends is an insight into my world on my days off and what I’ve been making, creating or doing. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Project No. 1
Crate on wheels – This is a nice fun project to start with… quick, simple. I used a crate from Ikea (I’ve previously used an old wine crate), wheels also from Ikea (but you can find them in hardware stores or Wilko), I use Frog Tape to mask off the area to paint (I love this stuff for masking, it’s the best, remove before the paint dries). I’ll let the pictures do the talking on the steps… I love the final result.
It’s Non Food Friday! In a couple of weeks a fabulous book called The Bag Boutique by Debbie von Grabler-Crozier will be published. A book which I was delighted to shoot and I have to say this was one of my favourite shots to style… I love it when I can fill a shot with all my favourite toys!
To purchase this book click onto my ‘Publications’ page and click on the book cover.
A whole week of cupcakes… don’t mind if I do! These are my Lavender Cupcake, topped with handpicked Lavender from the Hitching Lavender fields. I mixed the icing colour myself by using pink and blue (to match my hair colour) into a basic cream cheese icing recipe.
What a great day to celebrate! Indulge!
Make the most of figs whilst they are beautifully juicy and in season. There are lots of lovely recipes on the interest to inspire you, I’ve made a tasty dish of figs halved and cooked for 10 mins in the oven and served warm with Camembert cheese, honey, fresh thyme and walnuts. Y.U.M!
Love this shot of my craft and sewing props, happy Non Food Friday!
September is sourdough month a campaign organised by the Real Bread Campaign with the aim to encourage more people to bake or buy sourdough. Give it a try… dunked in oil and vinegar or simply with butter.
Finally my favourite month has arrived!
Lagom is a Swedish concept meaning ‘just the right amount’ and is the theme of a craft book that I am currently shooting for Search Press. Whilst shooting I snapped this beautiful incidental shot and I thought it was perfect for this week’s Non Food Friday post.
Yesterday was National Sponge Cake day (in US) and rather fittingly I had to bake this mini Bundt cake for a prop for one of my shots for the book I’m currently working on, cute huh?!
